My good friend and coach Heather DeVito celebrated her 40th birthday this past Wednesday, April 22nd. I guess she was inspired by my 61 event Birthday Bash because she opted to do 40 miles of events for her birthday! I’m honored that Heather asked me to join her… at least I think I am. I was wiped out after trying to keep up with this woman!
This year Heather’s birthday landed on Earth Day so what better way to spend your birthday and Earth Day then to get out and enjoy the great outdoors in Big Bear! It was a cool, rainy day but we had a great crew ready to brave whatever Mother Nature threw at us.
Heather, Tom Sitton and myself started at 9:15 am with a mountain bike ride up to Grand View Point and then back down. At 10:30 am we met up with Michael Carter for a trail run along Bristle Cone and Fern trails. Thank you both for not running away from me! 11:30 am our group departed on road bikes from Snow Summit for a cruise around the lake. Tom Hermon, Jodi Barrett, Tom Sitton and Laura Johnson joined in. We finished up around 1:30 pm in time for Heather to get out on the lake for a stand-up-paddleboard session – despite the threat of lightening. (See, I’m not always the crazy one!) All in all over 40 miles in the books to celebrate an awesome lady’s birthday!
If you or someone you know is interested in having their own special day of fun and adventure, please contact me. I can help you with the planning and execution of the event(s) down to the last detail. From mild to wild, we can plan it! I encourage each and every one of you to get out and try something that you’ve never done. I can help!
Remember: NO EXCUSES!
